CREATIVE CARE FOR MORTALS

Hello there!

Welcome.

I’m Liz.

As a creative care practitioner, registered nurse and death & grief worker, my goal is to to assist individuals and communities in building a more honest, creative, and supportive relationship with grief and mortality. My mission is to provide compassionate and creative care through experiences of death, grief, loss, legacy and transition.

After decades of guiding and supporting patients and families through end-of-life care and traumatic medical events, I found my calling in death work. Over time, I realized that the clinical side of care was one aspect however, there were deeper emotional, spiritual, and communal needs that were not being met.

I observed that most institutionalized care is rushed and impersonal and heavily focused on treatment and not the person as a whole. This was a sacred reminder that people deserve to be met with respect and warmth, especially at the end of life and through cycles of grief & loss.

Since then I’ve completed grief literacy and death education in a variety of settings, am a member of the National End of Life Doula Association, a trained grief group facilitator through the Collective for Hope and am a co-founder of the Prairie Death Care Collective in Omaha, NE.

I am passionate about creating brave spaces for honest conversations on mortality and advocating for end-of-life resources and autonomy. My work centers on encouraging creative expression around grief, loss, aging, ancestral connection, death anxiety and other shared human experiences, with a focus on building community-rooted, creative approaches to death and grief.

Through Creative Care Work I hope to bridge the gap to support individuals, families and communities with calm presence, practical guidance and creative practices that honor meaning, dignity, and connection.

Creative Care Work is a holistic, community‑centered approach to supporting people through grief, transition, and the full spectrum of human experience. It blends compassionate care with creative practices to help individuals and communities connect, express, and normalize grief and move through loss, end-of-life, change & death related experiences together.

Even though this work is deeply collective and thrives in community, the same principles are used in 1:1 offerings and end-of-life bedside services.

Thank you for being here!

Collaborative

As a creative care nurse and grief and death worker, my goal is to practice collaboration as a relational, responsive process. I might work alongside individuals, families, interdisciplinary teams, or community partners. I honor lived experience, cultural knowledge, and professional wisdom as equally valuable. Through shared listening, creativity, and mutual respect, I aim to co-create care that is compassionate, adaptable, and rooted in dignity at all stages of life and death.

Community Care

My approach to community care is grounded in connection, accessibility, and collective support. I believe grief, death, loss, transitions and caregiving are not meant to be carried alone and that support emerges through shared spaces of presence and understanding. By fostering inclusive, grief-informed communities, my goal is to help cultivate environments where people are supported, witnessed, and empowered to care for one another across the full spectrum of life, loss, and transition.

Vision: A world where compassionate presence, respect for every individual’s inherent dignity, and creative approaches to care are woven into all community spaces empowering people to feel seen, supported, and connected in moments of transition, grief, and loss.

Keep in touch about community events and future 1:1 offerings!
